A reminder that running, contrary to common belief, is in fact a team sport.
A couple years ago at the Division III girls state track meet in Columbus, Ohio, high school runner Meghan Vogel displayed an act of true sportsmanship. With only 20 meters to go in the 3200-meter race, Vogel, who was already behind the lead pack, decided to forgo her own finish and assist Arden McMath, another runner about to collapse.
Earlier that day, Vogel had won the 1600m. Not only is she a decent-human being, but she’s also a top track athlete. May this video of Vogel’s selfless act motivate runners everywhere to do the same.
